NATIONS FLAG
Italys flag is made up of three equal- sized
rectangles of green, white and red. The green is
beside the flagpole.

THE COUNTRYSIDE
                                               
                                         Located
in southern Europe. Italy is a boot-shaped
peninsula that extends into the Mediterranean
Sea. It is bordered by Monaco, France,
Switzerland, Austria, and Slovenia. Size Italy
covers 301,250 sq km, including the islands of
Sicily and Sardinia. Population The population
of Italy is about 57,634,300 (July 2000).
Climate Mostly a mild, Mediterranean climate.
The far north is cold and mountainous the south
is rugged, hot and dry. Major Rivers Po River,
Arno River Tiber Mountain Ranges The Alps
along the north the Apennines through the center
