Day 1 - Reflection
  • What we felt The kids are just like ordinary
kids. At the end of the day, we discovered that
indeed the kids do have some learning
    difficulties
  • Some of them give up easily, and get frustrated
if they are not able to complete the tasks.
  • Some get distracted very easily, and cannot focus
    on completing their crafts.
  • But by the end of the session, all the kids
    managed to produce the crafts.
  • We can see that they enjoyed the break bites and
    doing the bookmarks very much.

any problem, as we got to know them through Day
    1s experience.
  • The crafts we did required more time and effort,
but the children managed to finish them.
  • We found out that some of the children have
interest in doing crafts and are actually quite
    good at it.

Day 3 - Reflection
  • What we felt We felt touched that some of the
kids wanted us to go back to conduct another
    session.
  • Through the farewell session, we also found that
they enjoyed the 3-day workshop very much.
  • We felt quite sad that we had to say goodbye to
them because we have built a good rapport with
    them.

What we learnt
  • We must know how to handle each and everyone of
them because each child is unique.
  • Some of them need a lot of attention and
    affirmation
  • Some have a rigid mindset
  • A few of them are very shy and tend to keep to
    themselves.

14
What we learnt(cont)
  • Even though there were 4 of us, we found it
difficult to gain their attention and
    participation.
  • Although they are not academically-inclined, they
proved to be very good at crafts.
  • The period of time is too short for us to
understand them, in terms of their personalities
    and behaviors.

15
What we learnt(cont)
  • We should have implemented rules on the first day
because some of them were misbehaving.
  • We have to be stern with them at times.
  • We lack fillers in the programme, and at some
points of the workshop, we have to improvise our
    plan and make last-minute changes.

16
Suggestions
  • Always have a back-up plan
  • Planning more fruitful activities, like outdoor
    games
  • Find out more about the problem areas of these
    kids and be mentally prepared
