ambitions. Small people always do that, but the
really great make you feel that you, too, can

• Snazzy multi-color cover designs
• Use of Personal Branding Statement (PBS)
• Placing cover in front of portfolio
• April Hernandezs bloom in sales cover with
  blooming flower
• Tony Tamburrinos billboard cover was unique

Areas for Improvement

• Handwritten Tabs
• Tabs with no designations at all!
• Tabs falling out of their holders
• Inserts in wrong orientation in plastic holders
• Some students left out their redlined resumes and
  cover letters
• Using different plastic holders (clear and
  opaque) in the same portfolio

Good Ideas

• Cyrus Chans Networks pages included colored
  photos of most of his nodes
• Use of certificates, awards, transcripts,
  accomplishments, etc.
• Using good paper stock
• Card stock
• Colored paper
• Glossy paper
• Textured paper

More Areas for Improvement

• Be consistent Some documents were in protective
  covers while others were not
• Use the same type of materials throughout the
  document
• Make sure your portfolio is easy to follow If
  the employer needs to hunt for items, youve lost
  him/her
• Make sure your finished portfolio is correct
  double-check dates, spelling, etc.

More Good Ideas

• Effective use of clip art, paste-ons, fancy
  inserts, quotations by famous people, etc.
• Joe Varisco and April Hernandez had the best
  Portfolio Summary Memorandums
• Cyrus Chans SMART Goals chart presentation as
  part of his Action Plan was very unique and
  effective
