Title: Training of Leaders

Training of Leaders
  • NAF Ministerial Retreat
  • 2006

2
Pauls Mandate for Establishing
8Although I am less than the least of all Gods
people, this grace was given me to preach to the
Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ, 9AND
to make plain to everyone the administration of
this mystery, which for ages past was kept hidden
in God, who created all things. 10His intent was
that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom
of God should be made known to the rulers and
authorities in the heavenly realms, 11according
to his eternal purpose which he accomplished in
Christ Jesus our Lord.
3
Pauls Understanding of Establishing
  • Greek word sterizostrengthen, establish,
    support, and/or stabilize
  • Key verses Acts 14123 1536165 182223
    Romans 1815 162527 1 Thessalonians 3113,
    especially v. 2 2 Thessalonians 217 2 Peter

4
For I long to see you so that I may impart some
spiritual gift to you, that you may be
established. Romans 111 Now to Him who is
able to establish you according to my gospel and
the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the
revelation of the mystery which has been kept
secret for long ages past, but now is manifested,
and by the Scriptures of the prophets, according
to the commandment of the eternal God, has been
made known to all the nations Romans
1625-26

14Therefore, beloved, since you look for these
things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace,
spotless and blameless, 15and regard the patience
of our Lord to be salvation just as also our
beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom
given him, wrote to you, 16as also in all his
letters, speaking in them of these things, in
which are some things hard to understand, which
the untaught and unstable distort, as they do
also the rest of the Scriptures, to their own
destruction. 17You therefore, beloved, knowing
this beforehand, be on your guard lest, being
carried away by the error of unprincipled men,
you fall from your own steadfastness. 2
Peter 31417

A Strong Church A strong church is well
established in the gospel has solid, unshakable
families has mature, qualified leaders We cannot
impact anything unless we are strong!
7
A Strong Church is Established in The Teaching
  • Core elements
  • reform conductput off/put on
  • virtuesfruit of the Spirit
  • family relationshipshouseholds
  • true communitylove
  • conduct toward outsiders
  • submit to governing authorities
  • responsible livingsober, watchful

8
6 As you therefore have received Christ Jesus
the Lord, so walk in Him, 7 having been firmly
rooted and now being built up in Him and
established in your faith, just as you were
instructed, and overflowing with gratitude. 8 See
to it that no one takes you captive through
philosophy and empty deception, according to the
tradition of men, according to the elementary
principles of the world, rather than according to
Christ. Colossians 268
9
11 Concerning him we have much to say, and it is
hard to explain, since you have become dull of
hearing. 12 For though by this time you ought to
be teachers, you have need again for someone to
teach you the elementary principles of the
oracles of God, and you have come to need milk
and not solid food. 13 For everyone who partakes
only of milk is not accustomed to the word of
righteousness, for he is a babe. 14 But solid
food is for the mature, who because of practice
have their senses trained to discern good and
evil. Hebrews 51114
