Compensation
  • Medical Bills (150,000 maximum)
  • Temporary Wage Loss (15,000 maximum)
  • Permanent Partial Disability Awards (30,000
    maximum. (Inc. Time Loss and Voc Rehab)
  • Limited Permanent Total Disability Pension
    (40,000 maximum)
  • Vocational rehabilitation (5,000 maximum)
  • Funeral bills (6,730.82 FY06)

Eligibility Requirements
  • Must occur in Washington
  • Must be a gross misdemeanor or felony
  • Reported within 1 year to law enforcement
  • Application received by CVC within 2 years (up to
    5 years with good cause) after reporting to law
    enforcement
  • Applicant must provide reasonable cooperation
    with law enforcement to apprehend and convict the
    offender

Eligibility Requirements
  • Vehicular crimes must be vehicular assault with a
    conviction, vehicular homicide, failure to secure
    a load in the 1st degree, or DUI
  • Injury cannot be as a result of consent,
    provocation or incitement (exception homicides)
  • Victim cannot be in the commission of a felony
    crime
  • Victim cannot be incarcerated including any state
    facility such as state hospitals

Secondary Payer
  • The Crime Victim Compensation Program is the
    payer of last resort
  • We pay secondary to all private and public
    benefits
  • Victims must use providers covered under their
    primary coverage
  • We pay secondary to Workers Compensation if the
    incident happened on the job

Bill Payment Section
  • CVC covers payment for all rape exams in the
    state (3567 in fiscal year 2006)
  • Providers must be registered with CVC to receive
    payment
  • Victims must use primary insurance providers
  • CVC receives around 4100 bills per month
  • CVC processes 96 within 50 days of receipt
  • 50 of bills suspend due to eligibility issues
    (i.e., collateral, police reports)

  • Claimant has 90 days to protest order and notice
  • Appeals go to the Board of Industrial Insurance
    Appeals
