• They ate a lot of fish that they fished.
• The also ate a lot of meat from animals that they
  hunted.
• And they also grew acres of corn.

• Did you know that, Mashantucket Pequot Tribe
  nation is one of the dramatically changing
  fortunes?
• Theyre people have constantly occupied
  Mashantucket in the South.
• Connecticut for over 10,000 years.

  knoll and placed against the clear sky.
• The fox on the symbol stands as a reminder of the
  turbulent times
• The name Pequot means Destroyer

Where Did Most live????

• Most were from the Eastern Connecticut.
• Also from the Eastern Woodlands.

A Warlike Nation

• The Pequot Indians were a warlike group of
  people. The Pequot tribes resided in South
  Connecticut at the time of the European contact.
  Now remember that they lived in Southern
  Connecticut at the time of the European contact.
  There was not contact with the Europeans until
  about 1600.

• 1620-1633 The Pequot Tribe developed trading
  relationships with the European and the Native
  for fur and wampum.
• Fall 1633-Summer1634 A smallpox disease killed
  about 1,000 Natives in Southern New England.
• And a lot more.

• The tribes chief, Sassacus ruled both the
  Mohegan and the Pequot.
• ALL, that changed when the Uncas rebelled!
