Pound Home the Message!

• This display creates visual way for Thrivent
  Financial members to see the extent of their
  involvement with Habitat for Humanity

• Concept Calculate the total contribution from
  Thrivent Financial and the Lutheran community to
  Thrivent Builds Homes in the region. Then, have
  volunteers pound nails to symbolize that monetary
  commitment.

Tips to Pound Home the Message

• Calculation One nail 1,000
• For the Indiana region, that equaled 853,000
  provided by Thrivent and Lutherans to build the
  14 houses in 2007
• At event, encourage visitors by asking
• Will you help me pound some 1,000 nails to
  help Habitat for Humanity?

Get attention with lots of noise

• The pounded nails spelled out 853,000 and also
  followed the outlines of Indiana and Kentucky.

End Result

• Thrivent members (and families) who volunteered
  at the Indianapolis Air Show (almost 1,000 total)
  helped pound 853 nails into the display.

Construction of the display

• Materials used
• 2 4x8 sheets of plywood
• 2x4 studs for frames bracing
• heavy-duty hinges
