What is a Teddy Bear Hospital?

• Teddy is the patient
• Children are teddys
• parents
• Medical students are
• teddy doctors

The Scenario

• Kid brings Teddy-Bear

• Parents are interviewed (history taking)

• Physical examination (not invasive)
• Auscultation
• Palpation

• X-Ray
• Percussion

• Therapy (also not invasive)
• Bandages
• Remedies (drops, sweets, smarties, etc.)

A Role Play!

• Kids usually learn through playing, so why not
  use this
• ability to get them used to the medical field?

Goals (I)

•   
• To help young children between ages of 3-7 years
  to lose their fears of doctors and hospital
  environment

• To establish good rapport and communication
  skills
• between the children and us, the medical
  students

•   To give the children an insight into medical
  field

• To give us an opportunity to know more about
  
• paediatrics especially those who may be
  interested
• in this field

• Kids are not ill when they experience the TBH

• Easy accessability of the children through
  
• cooperation with kindergardens (excursion)

• Teddies work as mirrors to the childrens
• fears
