• Proto-oncogenes
• - genes whose products play an important role in
  normal cell growth
• function is altered in cancer cells - "oncogenes
• oncogenes encode proteins oncoproteins

Our focus - to study the mechanisms by which
oncoproteins are regulated, or regulate
cellular growth
Our approach - to utilize interaction cloning
schemes to identify new components of the growth
regulatory pathways in which oncoproteins are
involved - to test the function of these new
proteins using cell culture model systems and
transgenic mice
