Physical Characteristics
  • A typical bottlenose dolphin grow to be 2.5 to 3
    meters. The male dolphin is usually a little
    longer then the female. The average weight of the
    bottlenose dolphin is around 200kg. Large males
    grow to be 650kg. Generally their colors is dark
    medium grey with white on their belly and bottom
    jaw.They look like theyre smiling. They have a
    single blow hole on the top of their head There
    is a sharp crease between their snout and the top
    of the head.

Habitat
  • Bottlenose dolphins are found all over the world
    and all over Australia, found in Australian bays,
    water ways, surface coasts, lagoons and open
    seas. Bottlenose dolphins are located in oceans
    that temperatures that are not too hot and not
    too cold.

Feeding
  • The Bottlenose dolphin eats fish species like
    squid, shrimp, octopus and krill Depending on
    where they live, the average adult eats 15g a
    day. They do not chew their food they swallow
    whole. They trap schools of fish between the
    shore and their bodies.

Breeding
  • The Bottlenose dolphin can live up to 30 years
    but start at the age of 10. They can breed at any
    time of year. Mom is pregnant for a year. The
    calf is born in water. The young feeds on moms
    milk for 1.5 years and stays with the mother for
    4 year. The calf can be anything from 0.7 meters
    to 1.3 in length and up to 30kg.

Fun Fact
  • Their predators are Killer whales , tiger sharks
    and Human Hunting for oils, skins,etc. they
    swim by moving their tail fins up and down. The
    speed is up to 37km/hour but generally.They cruse
    at the speed of 10km/hour.Generally their dives
    last up to 3 to 4 minutes or less.. Their hearing
    is great, they have taste buds like human.The
    sound is they make clicking sound. The mom will
    carry dead baby on her back, while the other
    females will protect her.
