- 2005 Texas Tides is awarded a 570,288
three-year Institute of Museum and Library
Services (IMLS) National Leadership Grant - 2007 Texas Tides becomes TIDES to better
represent the multi-cultural, multi-lingual goals
of the project - TIDES is now an acronym for Teaching Images and
Digital Experiences which represents the future
of the program. - Today The IMLS grant has allowed TIDES to
develop new partners and double its available
resources.

7TIDES 2.0
- TIDES has created profiles and accounts with many
Web 2.0 sites. - Each site provides access to an Internet niche,
such as photo sharing, social networking, videos
and bloggers. - This has increased access to and visibility of
TIDES resources.
8Traveling with TIDES - Virtual Expeditions
- TIDES staff members have traveled in the U.S. and
Mexico to film local celebrations, artisans, and
cultural sites. - Currently over 150 TIDES videos are available
through the TIDES website, as well as YouTube and
TeacherTube. Topics include culture, history,
science, art, and education.
9TIDES Teacher Expeditions Giving teachers an
opportunity to experience, explore, and enrich
and then carry their experiences home to their
students.

- The database uses ContentDM .
- It contains over 22,000 images, documents,
photographs, and videos. - The metadata has been customized for target
audiences. - 10,900,477 items were searched in the 2007/2008
academic year
