7How will we get there? 2005 Goals
- Four Areas of Strategic Focus
- Enhancing Academic Quality
- Building a Student-Centered Learning Community
- Fostering Technological Innovation
- Promoting Globalization and Diversity
8 2005 Strategic Goals Academic Quality
- Bryant will achieve an average academic
reputation score of 3.3 in the - US News World Report survey.
Bryant will achieve higher mean scores than its
principal competitors on the Admitted Student
Questionnaire (ASQ) for each of the following
items Academic Reputation, Quality of Academic
Facilities, and Reputation of College with
Potential Employers. It will also rank more
highly than its principal competitors on the
following elements of image Prestigious,
Selective, Challenging, and Highly Respected.
We will lower our acceptance rate to 55 as a
result of increased applications and higher
number of early actions. A significant number of
these new students will be attracted to our new
programs, especially Communication and Applied
Psychology. As these programs mature we will
consider movement toward a university model.
Bryant College will have an Executive Development
Center that delivers high-end executive
programs, reaching outside our immediate
geographic area to become the regions supplier
of choice for such programs. The Colleges
business outreach programs will make a
significant, positive contribution to net
revenues
9 2005 Strategic Goals Student-Centered Leaning
Community
- Bryant will be recognized by a national
foundation for our work in developing the skills
and qualities of character that students need to
be successful.
Bryant will create an integrated system
(incorporating data bases and organizational
processes) to track and assess the progress of
each and every student. This system will draw
upon and bring together such initiative the
portal, e-portfolios, faculty advising, Banner,
and Blackboard.
10 2005 Strategic Goals Technological Innovation
- Every student will be equipped with a
state-of-the-art laptop that they will use to
master a suite of important personal productivity
programs. Their laptops will also connect them
to a sophisticated educational system that will
extend the learning experience far beyond the
classroom. In addition, the laptop will enable
students to more readily interface with the
Colleges administrative and business systems,
thereby improving the level and quality of the
services these systems provide. Finally, we will
also expand the technological capabilities of
faculty by increasing programming available
through the Faculty Development Center.
Students will be able to recognize ethical issues
related to technology and we will foster in them
norms and expectations that will lead to ethical
conduct in the use of technology as a tool of
daily life.
We will develop partnerships with top technology
providers that yield contributions of at least
500,000 per year in cash and in-kind
contributions.
11- 2005 Strategic Goals
- Globalization Diversity
- We will increase our recruitment of women,
minority, and international students and will
increase the diversity of faculty and staff
incrementally so that all students will have the
opportunity to learn from and interact with
individuals from the different races, cultures,
and backgrounds.
New learning opportunities will be available to
all students, faculty, and staff to foster
discussion and develop support for the Colleges
commitment to diversity and to engage them in
diversity-related developmental and assessment
activities to foster a more supportive,
respectful and inclusive learning community.
The undergraduate curriculum will be enhanced
through the inclusion of multicultural
perspectives and by increasing discussions/focus
on globalization and diversity-related topics in
appropriate classes. The Graduate School will
create a federation of at least three (3) global
partners to present innovative new programs via
internet technology and through student exchanges
