What is a season?

• A season is a major division of the year that is
  generally based on yearly periodic changes in
  weather. Most regions consider the four seasons
  to be winter, spring, summer, and fall.

What is Winter?

• Winter is the season with the shortest days and
  the lowest temperatures. It is the season with
  the most bitter cold weather, snow, and ice.

What is Spring?

• Spring is the season between winter and summer,
  when most plants and flowers begin to grow. It is
  usually thought to consist of the months March,
  April, and May.

• Summer marks the season in which the days are the
  longest. In the Northern Hemisphere Summer
  consists of the months, June, July, and August.

What is Fall?

• Fall marks the transition from summer to winter.
  During this time, trees begin to change colors
  from green to red or brown. Soon after they
  change color, the leaves fall from the trees.
  Days begin to get shorter and cooler and nights
  get longer.
