BULLYING IS..
  • One or more cruel incidents against the same
    person.
  • power or control over a victim.
  • Puts the victim in distress.
  • Bully and the victim usually not friends.
  • A criminal offense if bully is 12 years of age or
    older.
  • Doesnt stop by itself.
  • Effects can last a lifetime.
  • Witnesses are also affected.

  • Do not feel bad when they hurt others.

  • Usually are depressed, but dont know it.

    THEY DO NOT LEARN TO CHANGE?
  • Bullying becomes habit forming.
  • After the age of 14 or 15 they lose their
    popularity.
  • By high school can only associate with other
    bullies since no one else wants to be their
    friend.
  • By age 24, have at least 1 criminal conviction.
  • Higher rate of court appearances.
  • Higher rate of alcoholism.
  • More antisocial disorders.

  • Continue to bully at work.
  • Bully their husbands or wives and children.
  • Some learn more advanced forms of bullying to use
    at work.
  • Have poor relations at work.

  • WHY IS BULLYING A SERIOUS PROBLEM?
  • Interferes with learning.
  • occurs once every 7 minutes and lasts about 37
    seconds - effects last the entire day.
  • Leads to more school violence.
  • Results in a lowering of property values, and
    MCAS and SAT scores.
  • Money must be spent on prevention programs
    instead of more books and supplies.
  • Emotional scars can last a lifetime.
  • Can result in high rate of absenteeism.
