  • Students will read articles from local newspapers
that were written in response to local topics or
issues. They will then respond in their Writing
Journals whether or not they feel the articles
were based on the writers opinions, or from
    facts.
  • Students will choose one issue that is being

paper on their opinion of the issue and what the
town officials should do about the topic. Each
group must try to persuade the other groups to
side with them. This activity is just for fun,
so that students can see how everyone has their
won opinion about different things, and how
sometimes local officials try to get voters to
    side with them.

14
-Students will write a paragraph to one page
about how a citizen should act, what their
responsibilities are to the community, and what
they should do to help improve the
community. -Students will write a list of

citizens in a classroom. They will explain how
student interact in a classroom to help it
function better and run smoothly. We will
discuss these as a class and make comments.
