State of the Airline Industry

• Grim - Timeframe 1992
• Canadian Airlines carry only 2 of worlds
  passengers
• Stiff competition from US Airlines
• Industry has shrunk from 7 to 2 airlines
• Canadian government wants there to be at least 2
  domestic airlines to foster competition.

Case Report

• Give one or two paragraph answers to the
  following questions
• Describe a significant disadvantage that non-US
  airlines have when flying passengers into the US
• Discuss why you think that the capability to
  develop and maintain a reservation system is, or
  is not a core competency for an airline.
• If you were running the SABRE or APOLLO
  reservation systems, in what ways would the
  Internet be useful and in what ways would it be a
  threat.
• Write up your answers in MS Word. Name the file
  Canadian Air Case Report and email it to me
