The Train to Gain Service
  • The Train to Gain service is an independent,
    impartial quality assured brokerage service
    which works with employers to diagnose their
    business needs find solutions.
  • Skills Broker conduct an analysis to assess
    business and skills needs at all levels (for now
    and the future)
  • Skills Broker makes training recommendations
    which include the most suitable
  • Training providers

  • Delivery mechanisms

Some facts and figures after the first year
  • Over 53,000 employees engaged
  • Almost 225m employees trained with numbers now
    rising sharply
  • Employer satisfaction consistently over 80
  • Employee satisfaction also very strong
  • Train to Gain has opened up the market to more
    providers

Improving Train to Gain
  • Building to these levels in first year has been a
    good achievement
  • But we know improvements can be made. and
    are needed to deliver expansion
  • Improvements include
  • stimulating demand through providers to
    complement that of brokers
  • reaffirming Train to Gain as a holistic service
    for all employers covering all skills levels, not
    just SfL and L2
  • improving processes to reduce bureaucracy and
    reward performance

Development
  • World Class Skills confirmed the expansion of
    Train to Gain and highlighted interim outcomes to
    be detailed within the Delivery Plan.
  • Funding of 440m in 07/08 rising to over 650m in
    08/09
  • and to over 900m in 2010/11
  • LSC will publish Delivery Plan early Nov and will
    cover actions for the LSC and its partners,
    including providers, to deliver a challenging
    expansion
  • Providers have a clear important role if we are
    to achieve expansion
