• Built in 1874
• Located in Corolla
• 214 steps
• 162 ft. tall
• Still operational
• Red brick

Bodie

• Built in 1872
• North of Oregon Inlet
• 150 ft. tall
• Current lighthouse was the 3rd built, the first 2
  washed away during hurricanes
• Horizontal black white stripes

Cape Hatteras

• Built in 1802 (1845, 1854, 1870)
• Americas tallest lighthouse
• 208 ft. tall
• 257 steps
• In summer of 1999, it was moved 100ft. Inland
  because it was being threatened by the ocean.
• Diagonal black white stripes (candy cane)

Ocracoke

• Built in 1823
• 65 ft. tall
• Oldest still in service in NC
• All white

• Built in 1859
• Carteret county
• 163 ft. tall
• Must take a ferry to get to it
• Black white diamonds

• Built in 1817
• Oldest original in NC
• 109 ft. tall
• Red brick with cement overlay

• Built in 1958
• One of the last built in America
• 134 steps
• 169 ft. tall
• 3 large horizontal stripes black, white plain
  (paint is mixed into the cement)
