  • As part of our mission to promote interest in
    golf, The PGA continues to implement and support
    a variety of programs to grow the game
  • Since 1991 alone, spending on player development
    and growth of the game initiatives has totaled
    more than 33 million

Free Lesson Promotion
  • Partnership between The PGA, Golf Digest andThe
    Golf Channel, with Nike Golf sponsoring a
    sweepstakes
  • PGA Professionals dedicate a minimum of four
    hours during the month of May to give free
    lessons
  • Set a 6-year program participation record in 2003
    with 4,428 PGA Professionals from 3,777
    facilities giving some 78,483 FREE lessons

Golf For Business Life
  • Teaches basic golf skills and etiquette to
    college juniors, seniors and graduate students
  • PGA has provided a total of 2,730,000 to fund
    this program that is operating at 35 colleges and
    universities
  • Program continues to produce encouraging results
    with 95 of the students (approx. 8,400)
    indicating they want to continue to play golf

Executive WomensGolf Association
  • Continue to support growth of EWGA chapters
    around the country with 107 chapters now in place
  • Utilizing playgolfamerica.com to promote EWGA
    clinics, events and host sites
  • Providing educational and instructional resources
    to further develop EWGA curriculums

National Recreation Park Assoc.
  • PGA and NRPA have teamed up to increase
    participation in golf at municipal golf courses
    nationwide
  • Conducted focus groups among interested
    non-golfers, former golfers and municipal course
    operators and park district personnel in San
    Diego, Cincinnati, and Northern Virginia
  • Results will lead to the collaborative
    development of instructional and event oriented
    programs geared to families and youth to be
    piloted in select markets in 2004

LPGA USGA Girls Golf
  • The PGA and the PGA TOUR have each pledged
    75,000 to this program during the next three
    years
  • It is the only national developmental golf
    program available for young girls and is aimed at
    increasing the number and diversity of girls who
    have the opportunity to learn and play the game
    of golf
  • More than 3,000 girls participate in LPGA-USGA
    Girls Golf at nearly 130 sites around the United
    States

Growth of the Game Grants
  • A total of 189 programs have received2.3
    million in grants
  • Program supports the cost of instruction,
    provides golf clubs, grips publications and
    instructional equipment
  • To date, 383 PGA Professionals have given more
    than 14,000 hours of instruction to 26,445
    beginning and returning golfers

Presidents Council
  • Created to identify and recognize PGA
    Professionals who host public private adult
    player development programs
  • Projected to include 500 Council membersby
    years end
  • Council members agree to host and report on
    programs and share best practices
  • President's Council may also post their programs
    on playgolfamerica.com

Best Ideas Online Resource Center
  • This ongoing initiative provides for the
    gathering and reporting of operating best
    practices and ideas being employed by leading PGA
    Professionals
  • This years survey focuses on ideas that attract
    new golfers, increases play among existing
    golfers and grows facility revenues
  • To date, 630 PGA members have contributed their
    ideas through this years initiative

American Society of Golf Course Architects
  • Donated a 50,000 grant to support ASGCAs
    Building a Practical Golf Facility
  • Publication offers plans on responsible golf
    development and how to make golf affordable,
    accessible and sustainable
