4Tool Palette
The tool palette gives you an assortment of
options to choose from. Once you learn to use
the tool palette you can create all sorts of fun
stuff Suggest Tools - Polygonal Lasso Tool -
Freeform Pen Tool - Brush Tool - Blur Tool
5Brushes
Step 1 Create a new Window Short-cut, CtrlN
Step 2 Draw something with the marquee tool and
fill it in using the bucket tool
6Step 3 Once you have a drawing you wish to use
multiple times. Select Edit from the Menu
Bar and click on Define Brush
7Step 4 Type in your the brush name you wish to
use. Click OK.
Step 5 Select Brush Tool from the Tools
Palette Step 6 In the upper right corner
select the Brushes tab. Scroll down using the
side bar until you find your defined brush. Step
7 Select this brush, ,some colors, and draw away.
8What's a Layer?
Layers are a key element in PhotoShop. Layers
let you work on a portion of an image without
modifying the rest of the image unless you want
the layer to do so. If you make a mistake you do
not have to worry about recreating the entire
image, just recreate the faulty layer
9Mixing it up (Blending)
Each layer gives a tremendous amount of options
to modify it. These options provide a powerful
tool for even the most novice of users. Simply
right-click a layer from the layers palette
And select Blending Options remove any layer
restrictions/locks if option not accessible. This
is usually denoted by a picture of a lock.

Once the Layer Style window appears you may set
options such as Opacity which is how
transparent your option or the
entire layer will be. Suggested Options -
Satin - Stroke - Gradient Overlay - Bevel
Emboss Suggested Settings - Opacity - Blend
Mode
11But I Want It Now! (Filters)
Filters allow you to apply preset effects that
create stunning images without a lot of work.
Photoshop comes with this common set of filters,
but you can download and install more from the
World Wide Web Suggested Filters -Lens
Flare -Lighting Effects -Find Edges -Graphic Pen
