What is the Battle of the Books?
  • Battle of the Books (BOB) is a competition in
    which teams from grades 3-5 compete to answer the
    most questions based on the books from a
    designated Battle of the Books reading list.
  • Students read and discuss the books, quiz each
    other on the contents, and compete in teams of
    four members to correctly answer questions based
    on the books in a quiz show format.

For all students in grades 3 thru 5
  • Read carefully.
  • Sharpen your skills.
  • Build your confidence!
  • Develop teamwork.
  • Improve your communication.
  • Have fun!!!

Rules
  • Form a team of 4 students.
  • Each team must fill out a permission slip.
  • Each student signs the contract along with a
    parent.
  • Each team divides the list of books, making each
    team member an expert on some of the books.

Timeline of events
  • October Ms. Osborne will book talk titles.
  • November Team Sign-Ups
  • Parent permission slips signed and returned.
  • December to January
  • Read assigned titles.
  • February thru April
  • LET THE BATTLES BEGIN!!
  • Teams will compete during lunch or recess. The
    top team will compete against teams from other
    schools for the district championship title!
