What About the Highway?

• U. S. Highway 66 was commissioned in 1926,
  running 2,448 miles from Chicago to Los Angeles.
• In 1937 the surfacing of the entire route was
  completed.
• We started our MCC Self Study December 19, 2002 -
  about 18 months ago.
• Route 66 was officially decommissioned in 1985.
• Our self study process will end March 10, 2005 -
  about 10 months from now.
• John Steinbeck christened Route 66 "The Mother
  Road" in his novel The Grapes of Wrath.
• Our self study is an opportunity to reflect and
  to plan for the future.

• - Find the word(s) in the individual snack

  form a statement about one of our self-study
  activities.
• - After each table has their statement, we will
  collectively put them in sequence.

Looking in our Rearview Mirror

• A luncheon and a powerpoint overview of
  accreditation presented by Dr. Cecilia Lopez
• Getting to know committee members and figuring
  out our approach to the task
• Engaging in a self-study committee activity in
  order to establish our self-study goals
• Interpreting the criteria, operational
  indicators, and best practices for distance
  learning

• Looking for Waldos workshop about what is and
  isnt evidence
• Requesting, gathering, interpreting and
  critically evaluating all the evidence
• Comments from our Liaison Mary Breslins January
  visit
• Writing working papers addressing strengths,
  challenges, and future implications
