Using the Promethean ACTIVstudio(Smartboard)

To begin using the Promethean board

• First, plug in the power adaptor to the cord on
  the projector cart
• Next, plug in the USB cable into the USB port on
  your laptop
• Turn on the projector
• To start the ACTIVstudio program, double click on
  the program icon in your dock (its the one with
  the pen).

• Using ACTIVstudio
• After launching the ACTIVstudio program a toolbar
  will appear.
• Click on the flipchart button to open a new
  flipchart.
• Choose the full screen option to bring up the
  large flipchart screen.
• Before you can write on the board it must first
  be calibrated.

Using the ACTIVpen

• To start using the ACTIVstudio program you need
  to first calibrate your ACTIVpen.
• Using the mouse pad on your computer, click on
  the calibrate pen icon.
• Use your ACTIVpen and touch the pen to the board
  to begin.
• Follow the instructions on the board and touch
  the pen to the center of each cross. This will
  allow the pen to match what is touched on the
  board

To write on the Promethean board

• Select the pen tool on the tool bar.
• Use the tool bar to chose the pen color and the
  pen width.
• You can now write and draw on the board.
• To erase your writing/drawing
• Select the eraser button on the tool bar and
  trace over what you want to erase.

Saving your flipchart
To save your flipchart, select the flipchart
button in the toolbar and then the Save As
button. Or Select File from the main menu bar at
the top of your screen and then Save As. Name
your file and then its location.

You can make flipcharts ahead of time for your
class and bring them up when needed. You can
type text in the flipchart by using the Text
button from the tool bar. You can create charts,
graphs, write notes, and even print them out for
your students. Explore the program and discover

insert pictures into your flipcharts
