Position Description Executiv
e Director The Executive Director of Husky THON,
is the primary representative of the organization
at all major functions. They are responsible for
all major decision making, as well as serving as
the primary go to person for all major decisions.
Their role will be to work to facilitate the
Management Team, and to work with them to ensure
a successful event. General Duties -Facilitate
weekly meetings of Management Team -Facilitate
weekly meeting of the Overall Committee -Hold bi
weekly one on ones with the Internal and External
Directors -Facilitate and organize Advisory Board
Meetings -Serve as the primary communication with
the organizations primary advisor -Serve as a
liaison to Greek Life and other campus
offices HuskyTHON Event Duties -Serve as the
primary responder for all situations -Manage and
maintain the event -Responsible for coordinating
a Closing Ceremony for the event

Position Description Internal
Director The Internal Director of HuskyTHON
serves as the primary point person for all duties
relating directly to the HuskyTHON event. They
are responsible for supervising and managing the
activities of the chair persons who facilitate
the event, and will be primarily responsible for
major functions at the Marathon. General
Duties -Serve as a member of the HuskyTHON
Management Team -Serve as the primary point
person for members of the internal side of the
Overall Committee. Those committee members
are -Catering -Morale -Dancer
Relations -Family Relations -Technology -Entert
ainment -Event Management -Hold Internal
meetings beginning two months prior to the
event -Responsible for taking minutes at all
HuskyTHON meetings and distributing them to the
appropriate committee members. HuskyTHON Event
Duties -Responsible for creating and maintaining
the timeline for the event -Responsible for
ordering and distributing T-Shirts for the event

Position Description Catering
Chair The Catering Chair is responsible for
feeding the dancers throughout the entire event.
They will need to provide meals every 2-3 hours
for all the dancers. They are responsible for
soliciting food from vendors, planning a healthy
menu including a variety of foods, making sure
water and electrolytes are provided at all
times. General Duties -Solicit and secure all
food, storage and utensils for the event -Recruit
a committee to assist in obtaining food and in
kind donations -Work with Marketing and Public
Relations for all donations -Work with Event
Management to create an effective floor plan for
storing and serving all food items -Obtain
coolers from various sources to supply dancers
with water and electrolytes -Arrange for transfer
of refrigeration and heating boxes -Attempt to
keep all food caffeine and sugar free -Make
continuous confirmation calls to vendors -Assist
with all external fundraising efforts -Train a
committee member and assistants to help in your
efforts for the year HuskyTHON Event
Duties -Oversee the pickup, delivery, storage
and serving of all meals. -Manage a
pre-established committee -Keep serving, dining
and storage areas clean at all times -Help Event
Management and committee with setup/cleanup -Creat
e and maintain a schedule to feed the
organizations in shifts

Position Description
Dancer Relations Chair The Dancer Relations
Chair is responsible for keeping all dancers and
organizations informed prior to HuskyTHON. They
will hold regular dancer representative meetings,
develop and oversee all the rules and regulations
that pertain to fundraising, dancing and spirit
competitions, also responsible for overseeing the
point distribution for organizations/pairings,
regulates dancer registration at the event as
well as guest entry and committee check in,
creates and updates all alumni and dancer
databases General Duties -In charge of keeping
Dancer Reps, and Dancers informed of information
pertaining to HuskyTHON -Serve as the liaison
between HuskyTHON and the organizations -Develop
and maintain a point system for all
competitions -Manages the creation and
distribution of Dancer Bags -Manage an assistant
who will supervise the points competition -Manage
and coordinate all dancer registration
efforts -Create and maintain, in conjunction with
technology, a dancer database -Create and
distribute Dancer Representative
handbooks -Create agendas, and hold Dancer
Representative meetings -Work with the finance
chair to coordinate money turn in -Create and
distribute a dancer handbook -Manage spirit
points, and spirit point events -Conduct at least
two dancer meetings prior to the event -Manage
and file all necessary paperwork for dancers
(registration forms, allergy information,
waivers, and Husky One Cards) -Assist with all
external fundraising efforts -Train a committee
member and assistants to help in your efforts for
the year HuskyTHON Event Duties -Manage dancer
check in -Manage the admission table, and all
guest and visitor check in -Maintain all
necessary paperwork for the event.

Entertainment Chair The entertainment chair
works to coordinate and gain the involvement of
entertainment groups including but not limited to
performers, sports teams, bands, and dance groups
for the event. They work closely with the Morale
Chair to work with the timeline and theme
hours. General Duties -Solicit and secure all
live entertainment -Secure a DJ for the duration
of the event -Work closely with the Internal
Director to place acts in the timeline of the
event -Train an assistant to be able to do your
position in the event of an emergency -Assist
with all external fundraising efforts -Train a
committee member and assistants to help in your
efforts for the year HuskyTHON Event Duties -Aid
in efficient execution of the established
timeline -Receive and welcome all performers for
the event -Assist band and performers in setup
and breakdown -Introduce the acts to the dancers

Description Event Management Chair The
Event Management chair is responsible for the
layout, setup, maintenance, security and break
down of HuskyTHON facilities before, during and
after the event oversees all security for the
event through volunteers and the UConn Police
Department, responsible for the physical
facilities of HuskyTHON oversees a large
committee General Duties -Create the HuskyTHON
floor plan -Coordinate an Event Management
staff -Create back-up, disaster and crisis
management plans -Help Internal Director with
creation and implementation of the
timeline -Correspond and work with the
Entertainment chair to arrange arrival, setup,
breakdown and removal of entertainment
acts -Secure screen and rear projector for
event -Secure all tools for the sound needs of
the event -Direct all setup and breakdown
proceedings -Coordinate event security -Correspond
with technology for all needs for audio and
video during the event -Correspond with venue
staff to establish a good rapport and
relationship -Assist with all external
fundraising efforts -Train a committee member and
assistants to help in your efforts for the
year HuskyTHON Event Duties -Oversee all
operations of the event -Assist in implementation
of the timeline -Maintain security for all
dancers and committee members -Maintain

Family Relations Chair Coordinates the
involvement of Miracle families with the event as
a whole as well as with the organizations/pairings
organizes family attendance at all appropriate
HuskyTHON events recruits and accommodates
families during HuskyTHON, including the setup of
a family room/area General Duties -Serve as the
primary liaison between HuskyTHON and the Miracle
families -Invite Miracle families to all
appropriate HuskyTHON events -Create and
implement Family Room at the event -Create a
special Family and Child directed
timeline -Assist Internal Director in creation
and implementation of the timeline -Create and
maintain a miracle family database -Arrange for
families to attend/videotape events in order to
speak about their experiences -Assist with all
external fundraising efforts -Train a committee
member and assistants to help in your efforts for

Morale Chair The Morale chair is responsible
for keeping the spirits of the dancers high
throughout the entire HuskyTHON with a goal of
100 dancer retention coordinates diversionary
activities including but not limited to theme
hours, and games, creates and executes the line
dance works closely with Entertainment to plan
out an event timeline for the weekend and is
responsible for selecting and training morale
captains and a morale committee. General
Duties -Maintain Morale of the Overall
Committee -Assist in Morale duties with all
HuskyTHON Fundraisers -Create music and
choreography for the HuskyTHON Morale
Dance -Select a core group of Morale Captains,
who will be responsible for leading individual
theme hours -Teach line dance to overall
committee and morale captains -Work with Morale
Captains to create distinct and exciting theme
hours for the event -Assist with all external
fundraising efforts -Train a committee member and
assistants to help in your efforts for the
year HuskyTHON Event Duties -Maintain the morale
and spirit of the dancers at the event -Teach
line dance to dancers with help of assistants and
captains -Assist in implementation of the timeline

Chair is responsible for recruiting
organizations, dancers, and volunteers for
HuskyTHON implement a recruitment drive in the
fall semester to find assistants and committees
implement a Spring recruitment drive to help
bolster event support prepare and deliver
presentations to organizations encouraging them
to participate in HuskyTHON General
Duties -Maintain the website -Create and
maintain databases for recruitment, dancer
relations, and other committees as
necessary -Create promotional videos for
HuskyTHON -Assist with all external fundraising
efforts -Train a committee member and assistants
to help in your efforts for the year HuskyTHON
Event Duties -Create and utilize videos,

Position Description
External Director The External Director of
HuskyTHON serves as the primary point person for
all duties relating directly to fundraising and
sponsorship. They are responsible for
supervising and managing the activities of the
chair persons who work on fundraising, and with
outside contributions. General Duties -Serve as
a member of the HuskyTHON Management Team -Serve
as the primary point person for members of the
external side of the Overall Committee. Those
committee members are -Finance -Marketing
-Recruitment -Special Events -Fundraising -Publ
ic Relations -Work to coordinate donation
requests among the members of the External
Committee HuskyTHON Event Duties -Responsible
for coordinating all pieces of the event that
coordinate financial gain -Responsible for
designing an Opening Ceremony for the event

Description Finance Chair The
Finance chair oversees the collection of all
HuskyTHON funds from individuals,
organizations/pairings creates and manages
budget for the event, aids each committee in
creating individual budgets, direct working
relationship with USG, the University Business
Office, Executive Director, and Advisor General
Duties -Responsible for all accounting
procedures -Responsible for approval of all
Expenditures -Detailed record keeping of all
monies coming into and going out of HuskyTHON
-Detailed record keeping of all
expenditures -Create and maintain a list of
vendor names, numbers and addresses -Work closely
with fundraising to establish collection points
at all fundraising efforts -Maintain constant
communication between the Business Office and
HuskyTHON -Make all deposits in HuskyTHONs
name -Create and maintain a spreadsheet with
individual organization fundraising, and overall
total -Assist with all external fundraising
efforts -Train a committee member and assistants
to help in your efforts for the year HuskyTHON
Event Duties -Collect and count all monies
raised during the event -Total all monies
collected prior to the event and during
event -Create a balance sheet to have a final
total one hour prior to the events end -Work
with technology to create the final countdown
total reveal -Announce the total amount raised
during closing ceremonies

Fundraising Chair The Fundraising chair is
responsible for conducting fundraising activities
in the community included but not limited to
canning, letter writing campaign, penny wars,
etc. They will be responsible for balloon sales,
and for creating new oppurtunities for both the
Overall Committee, and organizations to fundraise
for HuskyTHON. General Duties -Create and
administer a plan to initiate Canning on the
UConn campus. -Create and execute an additional
fundraiser for HuskyTHON -Manage and implement
the Letter Writing Campaign -Create and
distribute letter packets to the Dancers/Dancer
Reps -Assist Organizations/pairings and dancer
reps with their fundraising efforts -Create a
fundraising opportunity format to give to
organizations -Assist with all external
fundraising efforts -Train a committee member and
assistants to help in your efforts for the
year HuskyTHON Event Duties -Assist Marketing
and Public Relation Chairs, as well as Event
Management -Responsible for the sale and
implementation of HuskyTHON fundraiser items (ie
I Survived Tshirts and Silver and Blue Bracelets,
etc.)

Description Marketing Chair The
Marketing Chair for HuskyTHON will be responsible
for soliciting all local, regional, and national
businesses to sponsor HuskyTHON within the
Childrens Miracle Network and Connecticut
Childrens Miracle Network market region
(includes garnering monetary donation as well as
those of products or services) works with other
Overall Committee members in supplying their
donation needs, prepares a marketing packet
during the summer prior to the year of the event.
Is also responsible for supervising the silent
auction General Duties -Deals with all
in-kind solicitations including items for the
silent auction -Creates and produces a marketing
packet with the help of the Public Relations
chair, to be completed no later than
August. -Devlops the HuskyTHON marketing scheme
and strategy -Works closely with Catering and
Public Relations to ensure that all logos are
represented, and to make sure that there is no
double dosing of businesses. -Work to develop an
early marketing/promotional DVD or CD-Rom -Create
a catering sponsorship insert for marketing
packet -Assist with all external fundraising
efforts -Train a committee member and assistants
to help in your efforts for the year HuskyTHON
Event Duties -Responsible for sponsorship
followups (thank you notes) -Responsible for
creation of sponsor board, as well as working
with technology to create the sponsorship
recognition powerpoint -Responsible for obtaining
banners and other items to hang from sponsors at
the event

Description Public Relations Chair Public
Relations is responsible for promoting HuskyTHON
to the campus, Connecticut community, and the
Childrens Miracle Network/Connecticut Childrens
Medical Center market area. They oversee the
distribution and implementation of HuskyTHON
press releases to the media, creates flyers and
other promotional materials for HuskyTHON as well
as for other committees. They are also
responsible for creating a press kit for the
event. General Duties -Oversee the editing and
uniformity of all distributed literature created
for the purpose of promoting HuskyTHON. -Assist
in designing, creating, and proofing of the
Marketing packet -Manage all HuskyTHON media
including, but not limited to -Signage -Print
-Commercial -Radio -Creating and maintaining
a media library for future use. It should
consist of all audio, video, and print media
available. -Oversee a HuskyTHON photographer and
videographer. This may be a committee member or
work to find an outside company to donate these
resources. -Write and create press releases for
the Dance Marathon event -Assist with all
external fundraising efforts -Train a committee
member and assistants to help in your efforts for
the year HuskyTHON Event Duties -Serve as the
designated press person for the event -Create and
maintain a media table with information available
for visiting media persons -Create, provide, and
regulate press passes for the event -Create and
provide tours of the event for visiting VIP,
Press, Sponsors, or University Administrators

events chairperson plans and executes all
additional fundraising events including but not
limited to spaghetti dinner, 5K Run, Flag
Football, or other events. Additionally they
will work on the pamper packets for the dancers
on the night of the event. General
Duties -Work with the fundraising chair to
coordinate efforts to bring in money for
HuskyTHON -Plan and coordinate all pre and post
events related to HuskyTHON -Assist with all
external fundraising efforts -Train a committee
member and assistants to help in your efforts for
the year HuskyTHON Event Duties -Assist internal
committee heads in efficient execution of the
timeline -Coordinate the implementation of pamper
packet program -Assist with Dancer Check In
