Oak Apple Galls
Caused by a gall wasp which cuts a hole in a
young twig to lay eggs, causing the twig to form
these green apple-like structures. The young
larvae eat the inside of the apple gall which
eventually turn brown.

California Acorn Weevil
The adults cut a small hole in an acorn and lays
its eggs inside which hatch into worm like grubs
that eat the inside of the acorn. When the acorn
drops from the tree, the grub chew their way out
and enter the ground to spend the winter. Adults
emerge from the ground in July.
