Marine Animal Adaptation
  • By Alessia Carriquiry and
  • Maria Jose Torres

2
Adaptation Animals need to adapt to their
enviorment for them to survive and to have a
better life.
  • There are different types of adaptation eating,
    moving, climet, defense, migration, and
    breathing.
  • Some animals use camouflage to escape from
preditors or to hunt other animals.
  • There are some animals that have adapted to eat
plants only and some to eat other animals.
  • Animals need to have right body for them to adapt
    easily.

3
Polar Bear
  • Polar bears use their white skin to camuflage
under water to catch their prey.
  • Polar bears are strong swimmers, they can stay
    under water for 2 minutes.
  • Their fur is made out of hollow hairs which
protects them from getting cold in water.
  • Polar bears have long curved caws that are sharp.
    That helps them to hunt
  • Polar bears have a very good sense of smell. That
can help them catch their prey.

4
Beluga Whale
  • Beluga whales are the only whales that turn their
    heads to communicate better.
  • Belugas use sound for finding their prey.
  • Belugas help each other while giving birth.
  • When they are born belugas are grey and the first
6 years they get lighter until the are completely
    white.
  • They use their white skin to camouflage.

5
Harp Seal
  • Their rear flippers are turned backwards, this
helps them to swim better but it makes it harder
for the to walk on land.
  • Female seals have to be 1 year pregnant and that
makes the harder for them because when the babies
are born the mom has to take care of them and
    cant go to the water.
  • The babies fur is really thin and they have to
stay in a warm place so their fur grows thicker
    and gets darker.
  • They use their white skin to camouflage from
    polar bears.

6
Penguin
  • In all species the color separates baby penguins
    from adults.
  • The colors of the baby penguins make them more
    visible against ice or snow.
  • The penguin calls allow other penguins to
    recognize it.
  • They use vocal and physical displays to
    communicate nesting territories.
