  • They eat sea animals like whales, walruses,
    seals, and salmon.
  • They also eat land animals like caribou, birds,
    and polar bears.
  • They also gather berries.

Shelter
  • The Inuit lived in iglus (igloos) and sod houses
    (qarmaqs).
  • Igloos are made with snow blocks.
  • Inuits also lived in tents made of sealskin.

Physical Features
  • The Inuit live in the northern part of North
    America.
  • Most of the year the area is covered in ice and
    snow.
  • Grass and bushes grow for just a few weeks.
  • In summer the flowers bloom.

Climate
  • There are only two seasons in this climate.
  • Winter is eight to nine months long.
  • It is 60 degrees and it is dark all of the time.
  • There is ice and snow and tundra.
  • During the summer it is light all of the time and
    the temperature can get up to 50 degrees F.

  • The animals in this area are the tall, big horned
    caribou, the big ferocious polar bear, and
    powerfully strong sled dogs.
  • There are mean grizzly bears, black bears,
    reindeer, moose, mountain sheep, and mountain
    goats.

    around 100,000 people called Eskimos.
  • The Inuits had dancing ceremonies to free the
    spirits of the animals that they killed.
