• I chose a black rhino because I dont know much
  about rhinos.
• The rhino family is about 60 million years old.
  Theyve been here a long time.
• The rhinos name came from 2 Greek words, rhino
  and ceros, which means nose horn.
• Rhinos can flip over a small truck like its a
  stone!

Description

• Most rhinos are a dull gray because, of mud
  baths, and rolling in the dust.
• All rhinos like to go in water.
• They are about 10 feet long and weigh up to 3,000
  pounds.
• Black rhinos have 2 horns. The longest horn is in
  front.
• They have a prehensile lip for browsing.

Habitat

• Black rhinos live in Africa.
• Black rhinos live on the savanna.

Diet

• In the wild rhinos eat plant foliage.
• They are called browsers.
• That means they eat the leaves of small trees and
  bushes.
• Rhinos are herbivore.

Babies

• Baby rhinos are called calves. They are born live
  and drink milk from their mother.
• Calves can weigh up to 150 pounds at birth.
• Calves stay with their mothers for about 2 to 4
  years.
• Newborn rhinos arent helpless, and are trotting
  around with their moms within an hour.
