Region, Climate, and More
  • Colorados region is what some people call the
    Rocky Mountain Region in the southwest because of
    its amazing mountain range!
  • Colorados climate is usually very dry and sunny,
    but some of the time Colorado has instant
    snowstorms that bring several inches of snow.
  • Colorado usually has extremely hot weather, but
    its hottest temp. is 118 F. The hottest temp.
    was held in Bennett.
  • The coolest temp. that Colorado has ever had was
    -61 F and that was in Maybell, Colorado.
  • Colorados neighboring states are Utah, Arizona,
    Wyoming, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Kansas, and
    Nebraska.

  • 1- Denver- Denver has a nickname called The
    Mile High City because of its elevation.
    Population- 554,636.
  • 2- Colorado Springs- Colorado is the second
    largest city in Colorado. Population-360,890.
  • 3- Aurora-Population- 276,393 Aurora was founded
    during a silver boom in the 1890s.
  • 4- Lakewood- Population- 144,126. Lakewood was
    incorporated in 1969. It has a very large variety
    of different high-technology industries.
  • 5- Fort Collins- Population- 118, 652. Fort
    Collins was founded in 1864, and even today it
    continues to grow.
  • 6- Arvada- Population- 89,235. Arvada as very
    little manufacturing.

  • The Colorado River, the Royal Gorge (1000 ft.
    deep!), and the amazing Rocky Mountains too which
    is why they call Colorado the Rocky Mountain
    region.

  • 1605- Spanish explorers traveled to the
    southwest.
  • 1858- The Colorado gold rush began and many
    settlers came.
  • 1876- Colorado became the 38th state of the
    United States of America!
  • 1899- The first sugar refinery opened in
    Colorado!

Why?
  • Why did I pick the colors for the slides that I
    did?
  • I picked pink and yellow for most of my slides
    because my state is freezing in the winter and
    burning hot in the summer. But for this slide I
    wanted it to stand out so that is why I chose
    blue, black, purple, pink, and yellow for all of
    my slides.
