About us
  • Your QA Team comes from the office of the DVC,
    TL - from aqpvet and TLDG
  • (Eike, Elizabeth, Asma, Mona)
  • We are here to assist you in preparing your
    courses and units for the quality accreditation
    Stage of CARP and to assist you to meet the
    internal timelines which are tied to external
    deadlines.

STAGES OF CARP
  • The staged process and the design of the
    documentation aims to
  • separate resource and planning issues from the
    quality accreditation
  • process.
  • We are also aiming to separate routine
    administrative activity from
  • academic judgement.
  • The proformas are also designed to capture
    course details and
  • delivery information that are required for other
    reporting or publishing
  • purposes SATAC, DEST, CDU Web etc
  • CARP is process driven but it is also an
    opportunity to review
  • courses and units from a TL perspective. It is
    the input from the
  • academic staff that is vital if it is to be more
    than a process.

STAGE II
  • Course structure and content, graduate
    attributes, course
  • and unit aims, objectives, learning outcomes,
    assessment,
  • teaching and learning strategies and modes of
    delivery.
  • This is the stage at which course
    developers/leaders have
  • the opportunity to take into account input from
    internal
  • external stakeholders academic staff from the
    discipline
  • and across the University, TLDG staff, Course
  • Advisory Groups, consider feedback from SELTS.

TLDG
  • The Teaching Learning Development Group (TLDG)
    supports the development of teaching and learning
    at Charles Darwin University (CDU).
  • Mona El-Ayoubi from TLDG is here today and will
    provide advice today and throughout this process.
  • TLDG has organised extra hands on workshops
    that you can attend if you need more guided
    assistance with the TLD aspects.
  • While all course and unit development will
    receive attention in the accreditation process
    some courses have been identified for more
    intensive intervention and have been allocated
    TLDG staff already.

STAGE II THE PROCESS and VERSION CONTROL
  • SCHOOL
  • Completing the documentation
  • HOS, TL Champions, course co-ordinators/
    leaders/developers, academic staff teaching in
    the Course, unit developers Course developer is
    responsible for the process at a course level
  • TL Champion or HOS drives the process at School
    level
  • Dont forget Course Advisory Group Meetings
  • Signing off
  • Documentation to be signed off by School TL
    Group / HOS, goes through the School Office to
    Faculty EO in the Deans Office,
  • Note Your QA Team from the Office of DVC is
    available to assist whenever
  • required. This is our priority for the next few
    months.

STAGE II THE PROCESS and VERSION CONTROL
  • FACULTY
  • Deans Office/Faculty EO coordinate the collation
    of documentation for the Faculty TL Meeting.
  • Final check and forward documentation to AQPVET
    email aqpteam_at_cdu.edu.au
  • NOTE Version control is very important. Eike has
  • some suggestions on numbering documents.

Timelines
  • 31 March 07 ALL COURSE DESCRIPTIONS FOR 2008
    SATAC GUIDE for notification to SATAC in
    April
  • 11 May 07 STAGE II DOCUMENTATION (COURSE
    AND UNITS) to AQPVET for preparation for
    consideration at June 1 TL Panel
  • 15 June 07 Revised STAGE II documentation to
    AQPVET
  • 30 June 07 STUDY PLANS and UNIT OFFERINGS for
    all courses for S1, 2008 completed for
    preparation and publication to the Web by the
    end of July ready for opening of SATAC in
    August.
  • Report All to Academic Board 11th August

FURTHER CONSIDERATIONS
  • Schools Faculties will need to set internal
    timelines
  • Course Advisory Groups MUST meet minutes from
    these meetings MUST be included in the
    documentation
  • Please note that you must have appropriate
    stakeholder representation industry,
    professional, student, graduates too many
    internal CDU staff on many of the current CAGs
  • SELTS please take the opportunity to
    incorporate feedback from SELTS into content of
    courses and units. There is to be a renewed
    focus on SELTS compliance and response - in
    2007.

What the QA Team can do for you!
  • We are here to support academic staff to ensure
  • that you have more time to allocate to the
  • academic content and have to worry less about the
  • paperwork.
  • We will assist you to complete the documentation.
  • We can provide data and resources.
  • We will provide support to the HOS School and the
    Deans
  • Office in the final preparation stages of the
    documentation.
  • CAG Meetings Jape Room (this room) can be used
    for CAG meetings.
  • Bookings through Asma Akram in our office. A
    member of the QA Team
  • will attend if required.

How you can help us
  • Please use our combined skills and knowledge we
    know you have a lot of other commitments, we can
    help you with this one
  • No rogue documentation if you dont have a pre-
    populated document ask us for one
  • Version control is vital in your School,
    Faculty and to AQPVET
  • Meet deadlines! We have set the timelines against
    external deadlines which the University is
    obligated to meet. It also helps us to better
    prepare the documentation for meetings, better
    for you!
  • Feedback on proformas process etc is always
    welcome
