Select Chairs Carefully
  • President should NEVER be Committee Chair!
  • What if last years Chair wants to do again.and
    you want someone else?
  • Appoint as a Co-Chair.
  • Put in a new role in the club.
  • Ask old Chair to give up..do gently/tactfully!

Review your ideas for Change!
  • Review what Community Analysis showed.
  • 1. What OLD projects no longer needed?
  • 2. What NEW projects need to be done?
  • Many projects can overlap and committees can work
    together to get a project done by hands on and/or
    donating funds!

Schedule Training Meeting
  • Call meeting in August or early September.
  • 1. Orient Chairs to responsibilities for coming
    year.
  • 2. Review K.I. materials on new ideas.
  • (Get materials at ICON, DCON, K.I. website).
  • 3. Seek suggestions for coming year activities.
  • 4. Discuss community survey/analysis needs.
  • 5. Determine new budget/funds to work with.
  • 6. Plan activities starting in October.

  • Devise ways to establish support
  • K-Kids Elementary, Grades 1-5, Ages 6-12.
  • Builders Club Middle School, Grades 6-8, Ages
    12-14.
  • Key Club High School, Grades 9-12.
  • Circle-K (CKI) College/University.
  • AKtion Club Adults with disabilities.
  • Key Leaders Send student to leadership camp.
  • Committee should include school ADVISOR
  • (Consider Honorary membership)

Youth Services (YS)
  • Constantly confused with Sponsored Youth.
  • YS covers all other youth activities that are
    NOT Kiwanis sponsored (SY).
  • Projects Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, FDK K.I.
    Foundations, Scholarships, Little League, Shoes
    for Kids, Boys State, High School Graduation
    Party, Safe Drug Organizations, Children Fairs,
    Student of the Month, Apples for Teachers,
    Teacher of the Year, School supplies, etc.

Young Children Priority One (YCPO)
  • Continuing Service Focus of K.I.
  • Pre-Natal to Age-5
  • To benefit young children world-wide.
  • People beginning to recognize Kiwanis as THE
    service organization Serving Children of the
    World!
  • Includes Terrific Kids Bring Up Grades (BUG).
  • Projects Head Start, Books for Pre-School, Baby
    Supplies, MOD/Walk America, Reading Programs,
    Skip-a-Meal, Pregnancy Care, etc.

Human Spiritual Values (HSV)
  • Implement projects that support spiritual
    development, human companionship comfort, offer
    counseling guidance.
  • Projects Club Invocation Benedictions,
    Interfaith Inter-denominational religious
    activity (Should not support a specific religious
    sect), Prayer Breakfasts, Layman of the Year,
    Transportation to Religious Service, Visits to
    Nursing Homes, Hospitals, Member Shut-ins,
    Support of Grief Counseling, Salvation Army Bell
    Ringing, Get well cards-sympathy-flowers, Holiday
    Food Baskets, etc.

Community Service (CS)
  • Deals with the Arts, Business Affairs,
    Citizenship, Conservation, Health, Literacy,
    Public Affairs, Safety, Senior Citizens,
    Disabled, etc.
  • Projects Blood donations, Habitat,
    Meals-on-Wheels, Special Olympics, Cell phones
    for 9-1-1 use, Aluminum can collections, Chamber
    of Commerce, Save Old Spectacles, Red Cross, Am.
    Cancer, Alzheimer's, Animal Welfare, Good
    Samaritans, Fire Safety, Hospice, Disaster
    Relief, Mental Health, Environment, etc.

Duties of Committee Chair-1
  • Call monthly meeting to implement/plan!
  • Make an Agenda
  • 1. Review Communications, letters, requests.
  • 2. Review/evaluate achievements of last mtg.
  • 3. Determine activities for coming month.
  • 4. Assign responsibilities (Who-What-Where)
  • (Any member can serve as Project Chair)
  • 5. Review plans for remaining fiscal year.

Duties of Committee Chair-2
  • Submit MONTHLY REPORT on time
  • Written report to club Secretary.
  • File electronically with Florida District
    (Optional).
  • Include members attending monthly mtg. for
    make-up).
  • Submit by last Club meeting of the month.
  • Attend Board of Directors meetings to report or
    discuss concerns.

MEMBERSHIP CHAIR
  • Review current Chairs performance.
  • Make change if needed to get job done.
  • Select Chair (Old or New), meet with Chair.
  • Review and select Committee members.
  • Get Membership materials, ICON/DCON/Online.
  • Set Goal for number of new members with chair.
  • Setup plans for monthly/quarterly PNM drives.
  • Setup plan to educate new members.

Duties of Membership Chair
  • Push members to get prospects to meetings.
  • Meet regularly with committee members.
  • Review all applications.
  • Set Orientation meeting with prospect sponsor.
  • Submit application to Board of Directors.
  • If approved, schedule Induction.
  • Get New Member packet, badge, certificate, pin.
  • Invite New Members spouse/significant other.
  • Assign immediately to a Committee get involved.
