4However, different people see different things...
.
In Britain, we see a sauce pan, or a plough....
But in Aisa, they see a carp fish.
5Can you see a snail?
6Turner the Languid Snail Turner was a languid
snail. This means he wasnt lazy, he was REALLY
lazy! Not that a snail can move very quickly, but
while all the other snails in the garden slid
slowly around on the leaves, Turner never moved
unless he really had to. This wasnt a problem
for Turner usually, he was able to spend most of
his days on the leaves in the garden and
everything was ok
7All this changed one day when a big hand started
groping around the leaves. All the other snails
went as quickly as they could (which wasnt very
fast) to escape. Turner thought about itbut
naaahhh, he couldnt be bothered. He was caught.
8It turned out this hand belonged to a scientist.
Not just any old scientist. This scientist
worked for NASA. He wanted to do an experiment
to see how snails moved in space.
9Within a month, during which time Turner hadnt
done very much (as usual), he was blasted off
into space.
10In space, you feel as light as a feather and you
can just float around easily. The other snails
in the experiment were having a whale of a time.
Normally they could only travel around slowly,
but now, with just one swish of their tails, they
could zip around like flashes. Turner however,
was still happy to languidly sit around. He
didnt move to look out the window to see
Earth. He didnt move to see the stars.
11Even when an astronaut was walking towards him,
he didnt move. Even when he was really, really
close. he wasnt bothered. Then CRUNCH! Turner
wasnt going to move again. Later, while an a
moon walk, the astronaut scrapped off the
squidgey lump from his boot and threw it away
into space.
12Today, Turner can be seen by all the snails on
Earth as a warning. They may not move quickly,
but they know not to be as lazy as Turner the
Languid Snail.
13What do you see?
Or maybe a witch!
An elephant?
Or a rattle snake?
14Have a go yourself...
Then think how it got there!
