ABOUT THE PROGRAM
R.E.A.D. Focuses on reading primarily to
Newborn Infants Young Children

OVERALL GOALS OBJECTIVES
To establish the joy of reading early as a
value for every new mother and father To
teach parents reading techniques used for
infants and small children To provide babys
first book as a start towards a regular
reading program To emphasize the importance
of education and literacy in todays society

THE MISSION
Make literacy promotion a standard part of
pediatric primary care Books will be given
to children at pediatric check-ups Special
focus on children growing up in poverty

Helps builds a relationship between medical

• The Library Foundation consists of 14 Board
  members from our community who are committed
  to raise funds to build a strong library system
  for all Windsorites.

• 100 of the funds raised by our volunteers are
  used to
• Build new libraries
• Enhance existing facilities
• Develop literacy programs
• Provide computers
• Purchase books, CDs, videos and other
  resource materials

VISION OF THE PEDIEATRIC READ PROGRAM
To effectively address the literacy needs in
the City of Windsor To approach literacy from
an all-inclusive perspective from prenatal
to the elderly To ensure that individuals with
literacy needs have access to appropriate
services To provide a librarian for the project
