4CME SIGNATURES IN EUV
Using the CME Watch data series in any of the
four EIT bandpasses, we are capable to identify
reliably the source regions of almost 60 of the
catalogued LASCO CMEs. The remaining 40 are
probably backsided.
AIA will observe the initiation of nearly all
the frontside CMEs

QUESTION can AIA determine the direction of a
CME eruption?
Only a shock arrived

10AUTOMATIC EXPOSURE CONTROL!?
11AUTOMATIC EXPOSURE CONTROL!?
AEC is detrimental for observations of weak
phenomena like dimmings and EIT waves!
12OBSERVATIONS OF EIT WAVESIN DIFFERENT BANDPASSES
195 Ã… 171 Ã… 284 Ã…
304 Ã… (?)
The association with waves observed in Ha, He I,
SXR, radio (17 GHz) is still unclear.
QUESTION Are all these waves the same
phenomenon? AIA unique temperature coverage may
give the answer.
13ARE EIT WAVES REALLY WAVES?

25HEATING OF FILAMENTS AND PROMINENCES DURING
ERUPTION
QUESTION Why and how is the prominence matter
heated during its eruption? AIA will observe this
process in several bandpasses.

30MORE OPEN QUESTIONS TO BE ADDRESSED BY AIA
- Close temporal correspondence of flare SXR
profile and CME rising curve (relationship
between CMEs and flares) (AIA
high temporal resolution simultaneous
observations in several bandpasses) - What is lifted off first prominence or overlying
arcade? (AIA high temporal resolution)
31AIA CME-RELATED DATA PRODUCTS
- Lists of dimmings, EIT waves,
filament eruptions,
prominence eruptions, post-eruption
arcades. - Catalogs of EUV CMEs
