It was owned by James Parker and called Parker
s Grove. People first started enjoying picnics at
Coney Island in 1870.

• Mr. Parker sold the land to Ohio Grove Company.
  They changed the name to Coney Island in 1886.
  People rode steam boats to Coney Island for
  picnics, dancing, and rides.

Coney Island

• Coney Island has been a popular amusement park
  more than 100 years.
• It survived 5 floods. It closed in 1971 and
  rides were moved to Kings Island.
• In 1992 Coney opened again with over 20 classic
  rides.

Other Interesting Details

• Coney Island owns the worlds largest Sunlite
  pool, the worlds largest recirculating pool.
• It has Lake Como with paddle boats.

• People rent Moonlight Gardens for parties and
  dances.
• The Flower Show is at Coney Island each year.

• I liked the rides because it makes me fly like
  pilot.
• I liked learning about history because I think
  its interesting .
