ERNE Soup

• A couple years ago, Dr. Mel Tockman, PI of the
  Moffitt EDRN site, said of ERNE, Its good, but
  its not soup yet.
• It appears that its still not soup, since there
  have been very few instances of researchers
  initiating collaborations because of what theyve
  found through ERNE.
• So how can we make it better?

Previously Proposed Interface Changes

• Allow searches for individuals with multiple
  specimens at different times(e.g., pre- and
  post-diagnosis specimens)
• Allow searches for individuals with matched
  specimens of different types(e.g., serum and
  cancer tissue, cancer and adjacent normal tissue)
• Allow searches for cases and matched controls

Issues to Think About

• How does this affect database design?
• How easily can we set up the user interface to
  allow the queries?
• What additional CDEs do we need in order to
  implement the changes?
