OPENING THE GAME
  • Open the game by left clicking on the start menu,
    then selecting games, and finally Minesweeper.

OBJECT OF THE GAME
  • The object of the game is to clear out every
    block without clicking on a mine
  • Clicking on a mine causes an instantaneous loss
  • When no vacant boxes remain, only those with
    mines exist, the player has successfully
    completed the game

PLAYING THE GAME
  • To begin playing, scroll the mouse over the field
    of blocks and select one randomly with the left
    mouse button
  • A series of numbers, that represent the number of
    mines that border vacant spaces, will be
    displayed

  • Plant flags by right clicking on any box where a
    mine is detected
  • A second right click on the now flagged box will
    change the flag to a question mark
  • Simply right click the selected box a third time
    to remove the question mark

  • In order to win the game all of the vacant spaces
    must be removed
  • Note that the numbers in vacant spaces can be
    used not only as a tool for locating mines, but
    also other vacant spaces which should be cleared
    by left clicking

CHANGING THE GAME OPTIONS/SETTINGS
  • scroll over the game option at the top of the
    Minesweeper window and left click
  • Simply left click on either the beginner,
    intermediate, or expert option

  • Difficulty is dependent on the grid size and
    number of mines present
  • Beginner level uses a 9 x 9 grid with 10 mines
  • Intermediate level uses a 16 x 16 grid with 40
    mines
  • Expert level uses a 30 x 16 grid with 99 mines

  • Color can be removed from the game by clicking on
    color in the game menu leaving a black and white
    version of the game
  • The games sound can also be turned on and off by
    clicking the sound option in the game menu

CLOSING THE GAME
  • Close the game by simply clicking the x in the
    top right corner of the Minesweeper window.
