17Review of the FTP Code
- FP 50 commenced a comprehensive review of the FTP
Code - aiming at enhancing its user-friendliness
- providing a more uniform application of the Code
through the inclusion of appropriate
interpretations approved by the Committee - FP 52 considered a consolidated draft of the new
revised FTP Code - Expected to be finalized at FP 53
18Safety of oil and chemical tankers
- MSC 81 considered report of the IIWG
- Application of IGS to new oil tankers of less
than 20,000 dwt and new chemical tankers - FP 51 suggested a new item
- Measures to prevent explosions on oil and
chemical tankers transporting low flash point
cargoes - FP 52 agreed to a WG at FP 53 to progress the
matter
