Title: National Load Demand Study Key Highlights of the TOR

1
National Load Demand Study Key Highlights of
the TOR
2
Objectives
  • The Objectives of the study is to provide a
realistic yearly estimate of the National Energy
Demand for each consumer class for the Business
Units (about 95 No. across the 11 distribution
zones), towns, states and for the entire power
    system, starting from 2007 to 2032 i.e. for (25
    yrs)

3
Key Highlights of the TOR
  • Determination of Current Demand as at 2008
  • Present actual connected loads (demand met and
    demand partially met)
  • Suppressed Loads (un met demand / un served or
    un connected)

4
Suppressed Loads / Demand in the System
  • Some conditions that can create suppressed
  • loads on the system.
  • Low voltage at consumer ends of the line
  • Overloaded lines transformers
  • Poor quality of supply (low frequency or flicker
    in the supply)
  • Poor reliability of supply (frequent tripping of
    lines etc)
  • Insufficient generation.
  • Over loaded transmission Lines and Substation.
  • Low voltage at transmission end of the line.

5
Determination of Current Demand
  • Data gathering
  • Appraisal of generation, transmission and
    distribution facilities within the Country
  • Operational performance data of all the
facilities in DBUs service areas (96 no.)
  • Captive generations, ratings and locations in the
    DBUs service areas.
  • Demand requirements of potential consumers (new
development, communities, rural areas etc) that
cannot be serviced or connected in the DBUs
services areas because of inadequate supply
    facilities.
  • Geo-referenced locations (using GPS) of existing
/ potential consumers and discrete blocks of
demand (individual customer demand of gt1MW and
group of customers within 2-3 KM radius of demand
    lt5MW in DBU service areas.

6
Study Outputs
  • Yearly estimate of National Energy Demand for
each consumer class in 95 Business units and 11
Distribution Zones across the Country and for
entire power system from 2007 to 2032 (25 years)
  • Geo-referenced locations of existing / potential
consumers and discrete blocks of demand
(individual customer demand of gt1MW and group
of customers within 2-3 KM radius of demand
lt5MW in DBU service areas from 2007 to 2032.
  • And others
