3SILENT AUCTIONAll proceeds go to Challenger
League at Bennetts Creek Little League
- To Mariners Club
- From Floyd Byrd, BCLL Challenger Manager
- Date October 14, 2008
- Re Challenger League Baseball Tax ID BCLL ID
541604361. - To the members of the Mariners Club,
- I recently accepted the task of coordinating and
managing the activities for the Challenger League
at Bennetts Creek Little League (BCLL). Our
Challenger League is comprised of about thirty
kids from the ages of 5 to 33. All of these
players have some disability. The disabilities
vary from learning disabilities to Noonans
Syndrome to Downs Syndrome, and so on. Some of
the players are in wheelchairs while one of our
players is legally blind. The kids that play at
BCLL come from all over Tidewater and even North
Carolina as we are one of the few facilities to
offer such a league for children with special
needs. - As the new manager and coach of one of the teams,
I have established some goals that I would like
to pursue for the benefit of the players. Some of
the goals are - Remodel the dugouts to make them wheelchair
accessible - Purchase some flat bases that are wheelchair
friendly - Purchase new, upgraded uniforms for all of the
players - Purchase gates to enclose our fence so the kids
cannot run off the field - Assist the parents with travel expenses to our
annual national jamboree tournament - My goal is to make the league as realistic as
possible for all of the players. We dont keep
score or outs during the game. We simply let
everyone have a chance to get on the field and
enjoy the sport as most other young children do.
4SILENT AUCTION ITEMSAll proceeds go to
Challenger League at Bennetts Creek Little League
- To the members of the Mariners Club,
- Floyd has been a member of the Mariners Club for
many, many years and has contributed many hours
of support to this Club along with the many hours
he has spent with his other club and outside
activities - The Officers and Board decided to give back to
Floyd. His working with children is never
ending. He enjoys this and loves the smiles he
gets for helping them have fun. -
- I would like to ask each member if they could
donate, or know of someone who would donate, an
item or 2 worth at least 25.00 to help raise
money for the worthwhile cause. These items will
be used at the Silent Auction to make this
happen. - If you can, please come to the Holiday Party.
- If you cant please try to help out with items
for the Auction. - Thanks for your support. The Officers, Board and
myself really appreciate it. - Mike Allen-President
