Discussion This test was conducted to find out if
the composite material would stand up in a cased
hole rotational environment. Critical parameters
of the testing --Buckled condition of the
tubular, the buttons experienced a constant 1119
lb compressive load under rotation of 120 rpm.
--G forces recorded during the test had average
G forces of 10 to 15 Gs with spikes over 20 Gs
consistently. --The total number of estimated
revolutions and impacts per test piece is
34200. Conclusion This test was designed as a
destructive test. We were not able to either
destroy nor disbond the material in a non
advancing rotational environment. We will now
precede with a new test in an attempt shear the
buttons from the tubular in a rotational and
axial advancing environment.

Engineer
28The BHA was run at 120 RPM for 10 minutes. The
assembly was run out, examined and photographed.
29The test assembly was then configured with the
stabilizer lugs running up the ramp of the
deflector. The bottom hole end of the stroke
left ½ of clearance between the bearing housing
and the stop on the deflector. The stroke was
54 and cycle time was approximately 5 minutes.
This was stroked 10 times running at 120 RPM.
The lugs were inspected and photographs were
taken with each stroke. The wear on this test
was primarily observed on the downhole lugs. Due
to the angle of the ramp, they were the ones in
contact with the ramp. The ramp has milling
marks from previous use leaving a rough surface.
The cumulative wear is shown in the following
pictures. At the beginning of this test the lugs
were ¼ under the 5 gage ring. After testing
the lugs were 3/8 under the gage ring,
indicating 1/8 of OD wear. The portions of the
lugs which were worn at an angle were up to ¼
below the OD of the lug

43A well typical of those being drilled today
The geometry of the well bore will create the
situation where the pipe will want to ride on the
hole wall. In order to eliminate potential
differential sticking two centralizers per joint
are required. Casing deflection is the primary
cause of concern in this well bore. Two
centralizers per joint will minimize the
deflection problem.

56Sidetrack Drilled 200with 5.5 13Cr liner
The liner was run but not cemented when the rig
was evacuated for Hurricane Katrina. When
operations resumed 10 days later the pipe was
free and circulation was immediately established.
An excellent cement job was achieved proving
that the Protech C shaped centralizer blades
kept the pipe off the hole wall and did not
impede circulation.
