Request For Bids (RFB)
  • A Request for Bid is used for the purchase of
    materials, supplies, equipment, construction
    projects and non-professional services.
  • The award is made to the lowest responsive and
    responsible bidder who meets the specifications.

Request For Proposals (RFP)
  • A Request for Proposal is used for unique,
    scientific, expert, or technical services.
  • The award is made based upon weighted selection
    criteria contained within the proposal.

Request For Qualifications (RFQ)
  • Establishes a list of qualified firms
  • Typically used when project specifics have not
    been determined
  • For a number of similar types of projects
