- 4 years ago the herd expanded - purchased animals
- Dry cows and springing heifers housed together on
a bedded pack for 2-3 weeks prior to calving. - Bedded pack - changed from long straw to chopped
straw and sawdust. - Most cows calve ok ave. 91 lbs of milk - DHIA
data. - Bulk tank SCC increased from 150,000 to 300,000
over last 3 months. - Body condition scores
- High CMT or clinical mastitis after calving (SCC
decreases to less than 200,000 in the first
month). - cows with clinical mastitis - Temp gt104oF.
- Other health problems in fresh cows
- retained placenta (RP)
- milk fevers
