Introduction

• We are going to talk about Belize ecology. It
  includes its land, climate, animals, land area,
  and coastal waters.

The Size, Shape and Land of Belize

• Belize is located on the eastern coast of Central
  America.
• Belize is shaped like a rectangle that extends
  about 280 miles North and South, 100 miles East
  and West with a total land boundary of about 516
  square miles.

Land and Climate

• There is a large variety of limestone in the
  country. The hilly regions that surround the
  Maya mountains are formed by the cretaceous
  limestone. In mountain pine ridges the soil is
  very fertile
• The sandy soil near the coast supports a savanna.
• The land gradually rises as you get father in the
  interior. The country receives about 170 inches
  of rain a year .
• It also has a true rain forest that is rich with
  fern palms and tropical hardwoods
• Belize has a subtropical climate. They also have
  an regular temperature of 79 degrees.

The Coastal Waters and Animals of Belize

• Most of the northern part of Belize lies in the
  Yucatan platform with alluvial deposits of
  varying fertility cover
• The shallow coastal waters are sheltered by a
  line of coral reefs
• It is swampy near the coast

The Animals of Belize

• The national animal is the tapir which is about
  the size of a small cow. The national bird is the
  toucan.
• The jaguar is the largest American member of the
  cat family which can be found in Belizes
  rainforest. The black howler monkey is an
  endangered animal and is also protected in an
  sanctuary at Bermudan landings

Conclusion

• We conclude that Belizes ecology includes many
  different animals. Also they have very many
  beaches. Their water is very clear because they
  do not pollute their waters. They have some
  small hills.They have many mountains that are
  huge.
