Updated Beliefs
Nicotine James Jang, a student at Stanford
Medical School, assumed that since smokers suffer
from narrowed veins and poor circulation that
nicotine was the culprit. However Jangs study
revealed nicotine actually stimulates the
division of cells. And when tested on lab mice
with artery disease and lung cancer, they
discovered it promotes the growth of new blood
vessels in mice. This discovery suggests that
nicotine could be used to heal wounds or treat
disorders in which blood flow is impeded such as
diabetes. He has already found it helps wounds
heal faster in animals. Plus it is being tested
to treat neurological disorders like Parkinsons
disease and Tourettes syndrome. Popular Science

Updated Beliefs
  • Chocolate
  • Is rich in antioxidants which may help protect
    against heart
  • disease and cancer
  • Has little effect on blood cholesterol. It is
    a plant product and
  • thus cholesterol free
  • Only has tiny amounts of caffeine
  • Is not addictive (unless you eat 50lbs at one
    sitting)
  • Contributes little to tooth decay. Cocoa
    contains substances that
  • may inhibit the bacterial growth that
    promotes plaque formation
  • and thus cavities.
