Title: THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE KEYMARK AND CEMARKING
1THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE KEYMARK AND
CE-MARKING
2Present situation
- Mandatory or semi mandatory quality marks and 3rd
party surveillance systems, in order protect
consumers, and secure a fair market. (e.g. Ü
mark ACERMI KITE KOMO VIK etc.) - Only one or very few national testing
laboratories. - Harmonized national lambda levels
3CE-marking
- Depending on Reaction to Fire classification, no
or only minimal requirements for 3rd party
surveillance. - Any notified laboratory in EU can be used for
testing and/or certification. - No defined European lambda level.
- (The same product could be measured as lambda 37
mW/mK in one laboratory and lambda 34 mW/mK in
another) - No specific requirements for notified
laboratories on EU level.
4CE marking
- Risks
- Competition based upon identifying the European
Laboratory giving the best results to the
disadvantage of our customers and our industry. - Pirates giving false claims on product
properties are allowed to disturb the market.
5The Keymark
The Keymark is a third-party certification mark
for a product, demonstrating to users and
consumers compliance of the product with the
requirements of the relevant CEN/CENELEC
Standard(s). It is granted after the
satisfactory completion of a certification
procedure, comprising product conformity tests
(ITT), assessment of the documented factory
production control for the related production
line, production site inspection and surveillance.
6What is Keymark
- A European Quality Mark and Product Certification
Scheme - The Keymark is a supplement to CE-marking, in
order to certify that product claims are
controlled by an independent laboratory - The Keymark will be given together with a well
known National Quality mark - The Keymark rules secure that testing
laboratories are controlled and measure correctly
7Why Keymark ThermalInsulation Products ?
- In the future, the industry also needs 3rd party
certification and a Quality mark in order to
protect consumers - and to secure fair competition
- and to obtain a common European lambda level
