4Purpose of this Session
- To review with administration a process to
complete a gap analysis to assist with aligning
your current delivery for the Michigan CIP
programs with the new state standards.

- Identify how to develop gap analysis document by
using the web documents - Identify the steps to complete gap analysis with
teachers - Review of timeline for implementation of Standards

7Who can set up Gap Analysis

- Teachers can down load the gap analysis and save
in a common area of the network - OR
- Secretary can down load the gap analysis and save
on your network for each CTE program

under the Curriculum Standards Project box on
the right side, click on View Curriculum
Standards - Select a Michigan Pathway
- Select a Career Cluster
- Scroll down to find the appropriate Michigan CIP
code

- National Cluster Foundation Skills
- Michigan Career and Employability Skills and

- 5. On the right side under the Standards list,
click on MI Career and Employability Skills HS
Technical Skills Excel format (green icon) - 6. Click Open

- 7. First customize the header and fill in
program information sections - - Go to File, Page Set up, Header/Footer,
Customize header, type in the name of- - The National Career Cluster,
- The National Cluster Pathway
- Michigan CIP Code and Program Name
- click OK, and click OK again
- Type in the information in sections E1

- 8. Do a Save As in the file of your choice on
your own system. It is recommended that you
label the file Gap Analysis - 9. Click the Back button at the top left of
your screen, and you will return to the
www.MCCTE-FSU.org page for the CIP that you are
working with

- 10. Go to the Standards list again on the
right side of the screen - 11. Click on MI Technical Skills Excel
format (green icon) - 12. Select Open
- 13. Starting with the number 1, click on the
shaded numbers in the first column on the left,
hold and scroll down to the end of the document
(you want the whole row highlighted when you
scroll down) - 14. Right click on the shaded area, last
number and select Copy - 15. Go to your Gap Analysis saved document
on your computer - 16. Scroll down to line 197A
- 17. Click on the number 197 right click,
select Insert Copied Cells

- Use the same steps to download the Cluster
Pathway Skills and Cluster Foundation Skills - Save the document

- Suggestions for how to introduce the Gap Analysis
-- - Meet with teachers in an identified group to
review process and allow them time to complete
the Gap Analysis - National Cluster grouping
- E-focus and task force participants
- Present an overview to all of the staff and then
have them do it on their own by an identified
time - Share the process with the local administrators

29When will it be completed?
- June 2008 the Gap Analysis will be highly
recommended as a part of your CIP Self Review and
will be kept in your TRAC files. - The analysis will be updated annually
- Spring 2008 the Gap Analysis will be required for
districts requesting changes as a result of their
program standard review
