Physical Description

• Meerkats look like a small cat and they have long
  tails.
• They can be 12 inches tall, weigh up to 2 pounds
  and can be 20 inches long.
• Meerkats have white stomachs, brown fur on their
  backs and black around their eyes.

Habitat

• Meerkats live in Southern Africa, Angola,
  Namibia, and Botswana.
• They can even live in the Kalahari desert
• They make 4 or 5 inch wide burrows under ground.

Food and Diet

• Meerkats eat insects, beetle larvae, moths,
  flies, butterflies and spiders and more.
• Meerkats are omnivorous.
• Meerkats eat snake meat.

Predators

• Meerkats are eaten by eagles, jackels and ratels.
• They protect themselves by fighting, scaring a
  predator by hissing and digging down in their
  burrow.
• Their burrows have lots of exits and entrances.

Babies

• Meerkat females have 2-4 babies.
• Baby meerkats color are the same as adults baby
  meerkats weigh 57 grams.
• Meerkats leave there mother when they are 6
  months old.

• It is not endangered.
• Meerkats can eat poisonous scorpions and snakes.
• They can dig very deep.
