5Greeting the principal and teachers is a regular
Monday morning ritual.
6The school is USINDOs response to helping
rebuild education in Aceh following the tsunami
of December 26, 2004.
7The need was great. The Sampoerna Foundation was
already tackling temporary solutions.
8Syiah Kuala University had a vision for a model
school to promote educational innovation and
hands-on learning.
9USINDO, UNSYIAH and the Sampoerna Foundation
signed a MOU for the Lab School in August 2005.
10The university supplied the land and the
community helped clear it in November 2005.
11UNSYIAH named a design team. Pak Mufti, the
architect, is a member of the Syiah
Kuala University faculty.
