Racism
3
Example
If any Christian wants to know how to treat the
colored people, read Gods explicit instructions
to the Jews on that particular subjectyou
shall conquer them and utterly destroy them. You
shall make no covenant with them nor show mercy
to them. Nor shall you make marriages with them.
You shall not give your daughter to their son,
nor take their daughter for your son.
4
Example
They have always been cursed with a sense of
fear, ignorance, superstition and an inferior
complex We have to admit that we have had some
very well educated Negroes among us. Some who
have made good in business and various trades.
How do you account for that? Yes, all those
Negroes who have had a generous fertilization of
white blood have invariably left the evidence of
it behind them.
5
Example
But the genuine Negro article is just what he has
always been -Not from an Aryan Nation -Not from
a KKK Clan rally -This is from a pulpit in the
Lords church
6
Culture The Church
  • Every issue that harms our culture, can have its
    effects on the church
  • Racism is an attitude with actions that cannot
    be tolerated in the church!
  • The challenge for the church is to impact our
culture, rather than be impacted by our culture
    (Romans 122)
  • Lets discuss racism from Gods word

7
Dehuminization
  • Speaking of the black race, Edward Long in his
    The History Of Jamaica said
  • gt When we reflect ontheir dissimilarity to
the rest of mankind, must we not conclude that
they are a different species of the same
    genus?
  • gtWhat kind of species are they? They are
the same created people we are.

8
Dehuminization
  • French author, J.H. Guenebault said in his
work, Natural History of the Negro Race
  • gt It is then impossible to deny that they
form not only a race, but truly a species,
distinct from all other races of men known to
    the globe.
  • gt They belong to the age genus and are
    between orangutans and white humans

9
Dehuminization
  • Ernst Haeckel in the Evolution of Man
  • gt Has a family tree chart that has perched on
its branches a chimpanzee, gorilla, an
    orangutan, and a Negro
  • gt God never put man in the trees, but on the
earth to have dominion over all things
    created. (Gen. 126)

10
Dehuminization
  • Not denying humanity, Ulrich B. Phillips in his
    work said
  • gt Negroes were neither property nor animals,
but children who could not be taken seriously
    as adults
  • gt Every individual human being is equal in
Gods sight, and must be treated as such

11
Stereotypes
  • Stereotyping is a lazy way of lumping together
all of those who come from a certain class or
    race
  • gtMost stereotypes, if not wrong, are unkind
    and uncomplimentary
  • gtStatements that begin with all of them or
they all are, are too broad and will
    misrepresent individuals

12
Prejudice
  • Prejudice is the sentence of a closed mind
without any desire or effort to put forth in
    learning the facts
  • gtPrejudices cause other to use descriptions
of others that are demeaning and offensive
    (Eph. 429)
  • gtBe sure to treat others as you would have
    them treat you (Matt. 712)

13
Discrimination
  • Racism often closes doors of opportunity due to
    hatred
  • gt Examp Black people not welcomed in
    white churches
  • gt When did the Lord announce a color for His
    church? (Acts 241 1044-48 I Tim. 24)

14
Racism Is Not New
  • In the NT the issue of racism was very relevant
  • gtAlthough not a black and white issue, there
was a separation of Jew and Gentile in the 1st
    century
  • gtThis Jew / Gentile situation was much
greater than any racism today, yet it was
    overcome. (John 146 49)

15
Racism Is Partiality
  • Christians are not to be partial, but kind to
    all
  • gtNo one who holds the faith, should do it with
    partiality (James 21)
  • gtGod calls every one in every nation that will
fear Him and work righteousness without
    partiality (Acts 1034-35)
  • gtThose in Christ must be united as one (Gal.
    328)

16
Creation Racism
  • God created all mankind to be God seekers
  • gtGod is not far from any one of us, and we
must seek to find Him, regardless of our
    ethnic backgrounds (Acts 1716-17)
  • gtAll mankind must realize sin in their life
and repent and turn to God (Acts 1724-34)

17
Final Thoughts
  • Racism is prideful, and God hates those that
are full of pride (Prov. 616-17)
  • Race makes no difference to God
  • The God we serve is color blind!
  • Instead of concerning ourselves with differences
in the color of our skin, maybe we can see that
we are all human, each with a soul that needs a
    Savior.

18
  • Hear John 1248
  • Believe John 824
  • Repent Luke 133, 5
  • Confess Matthew 1032-33
  • Baptized Mark 1616
  • -Faithful Matthew 2413
